Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for an Educational Interpreter skilled in ASL to support a Kindergarten student in a fully onsite, 1:1 setting at an elementary school in Bellefonte, PA. This position is a contract role for the school year, working with a fully deaf student who has cochlear implants and some prior experience with sign language from preschool early intervention. The interpreter will play a crucial role as the student transitions to elementary school, facilitating effective munication and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 ASL interpreting services for a Kindergarten student.
• Support the student's access to curriculum and classroom munication.
• Collaborate with another onsite interpreter working 1:1 with a 2nd grade student for support and guidance.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting.
• Participate in meetings and coordinate with educators and support staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience in educational settings.
• fort working independently in a 1:1 environment with young children.
• Understanding of deafness, cochlear implants, and early intervention strategies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Availability for a fully onsite schedule.

Location & Logistics:

• Elementary school located approximately 20 minutes from Penn State and about an hour outside of Harrisburg, PA.
• Interviews will mence the week of July 28th.

pensation & Benefits:

• Hourly pay range of $35-$45.
• Benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and weekly pay.
