Job Description

An educational facility in the Rockford, IL area is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide exceptional communication support for students from August 4, 2025, to June 6, 2026. This in-person contract position involves working approximately 32.5 to 35 hours per week, aligning with the school calendar.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear and effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and hearing individuals during classroom instruction and activities.
• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support students educational needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in all interactions.

Qualifications:

• Must hold or be eligible for Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approval as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• A minimum EIPA score of 3.0 or higher is required; candidates with this score may obtain temporary approval.
• Experience working in a high school environment preferred.
• Availability to work on-site in Hampshire High School and surrounding areas.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
