Position Title: Color Consultant - Contract

Wage: $30.00 - $40.00/hour

Contract Length: 6 Months

We are seeking a talented Color Consultant in Vernon Hills, IL to support the development and execution of color tools, palette strategies, and educational content for our Architectural Coatings portfolio. This project-based, six-month contract role is ideal for a design professional or consultant with expertise in color theory, consumer insights, and trend translation. The Color Consultant will collaborate with marketing, product management, and digital teams to enhance the consumer color experience—both in-store and online—through curated palettes, engaging messaging, and accessible education.

Color Consultant Responsibilities:
- In-Store Color Experience: Refine and organize an existing palette for consumer-friendly display, and recommend layout/flow for cards or chips to simplify navigation
- Color Naming: Develop distinctive, brand-appropriate names for new and existing colors, ensuring alignment with brand voice and market expectations
- Digital Content Development: Provide copy for product pages, including complementary/contrasting shades, off-white navigation by undertone, and “similar colors” suggestions
- Brochure Palettes & Messaging: Curate seasonal or thematic palettes and contribute inspiring, consumer-friendly copy in partnership with design and creative teams
- Educational Content: Create or script short-form digital content (videos, guides) that educates consumers on color selection and usage; optional opportunities to serve as on-camera talent or content advisor

Deliverables May Include:
- Finalized in-store palette layout and navigation plan
- Master list of color names with rationale
- Copy blocks for digital product pages
- 10–25 brochure-ready palettes with supporting messaging
- 3–5 educational video scripts or outlines
- Tone and messaging guidelines for future color tools

Requirements for Color Consultant:
- Proven background in color consulting, interior design, or trend forecasting
- Deep knowledge of color theory and its consumer application in retail environments
- Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to simplify technical ideas
- Experience collaborating with marketing, product, and creative teams
- Knowledge of paint, coatings, or home décor strongly preferred
- Experience creating digital content or serving as on-camera talent is a plus
