Field Service Engineer – CNC Grinding Machines

Location: Can be based in WI, IL, IN, OH, KY, or MI

Salary: $38 - $45 per hour

Type: Full-time | Field-Based | 100% Travel Required

Our client is a leading manufacturer in the precision engineering sector, specialising in high-performance CNC grinding machinery. As part of their continued growth across North America, they are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their dedicated service team.

The Role:

As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in delivering outstanding service to customers across the US and Canada. You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of advanced CNC grinding machines, while also supporting customers with troubleshooting of grinding processes.

This is a highly technical, customer-facing role that requires a problem-solver with a passion for hands-on engineering and a strong understanding of grinding technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair CNC grinding machines and associated grinding processes at customer locations
• Perform preventative and routine maintenance on machinery
• Deliver on-site training and technical support to customers on machine operation and maintenance
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and process-related issues
• Work closely with internal engineering teams to optimise machine reliability and performance
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation
• Travel extensively throughout the Greater Detroit Area, wider US, and Canada as needed
• Travel to Europe for machine handover prior to shipment

Candidate Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience with CNC grinding machines (installation, service, or process engineering)
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software systems
• Proficient in diagnosing and resolving grinding process issues
• Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and engineering documentation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset
• Willingness and availability to travel frequently, including international travel
• Valid driver’s license and passport
