Freelance SEO & Paid Ads Specialist Job Listing
About The Geekery
The Geekery is on a mission to level up its online presence through a data-driven SEO, content, and paid advertising strategy. We’re a small, nimble team that values clear communication, measurable results, and creative problem-solving. You’ll work directly with our in-house SEO PM to turn strategic plans into live optimizations and high-performing ad campaigns.
What You’ll Do
Technical SEO Execution:
Remediate audit findings (crawl errors, redirects, robots.txt & sitemap)
Optimize site speed, ensure mobile responsiveness and accessibility
On-Page Optimization & Markup:
Refine title tags, meta descriptions, header hierarchies collaboratively with in-house marketing specialist
Implement internal linking and schema (Organization, Article, FAQ, etc.)
Content Production & CMS Publishing:
Upload and format blog posts & landing pages per content briefs
Insert images, set alt text, canonical URLs, and enhance copy with keywords & CTAs
Paid Ads Setup & Management:
Build Google Ads Search & Display campaigns, including keyword research, audience targeting, and budget pacing collaboratively with in-house marketing specialist
Create and optimize Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ad campaigns, including creatives, placements, and retargeting audiences
Regularly review ad performance data with in-house marketing specialist, make optimization recommendations, and implement A/B testing on ads and landing pages
Off-Page SEO & Link-Building Support:
Manage directory & citation submissions
Conduct link reclamation for broken external links
Identify partnership opportunities for outreach hand-off
Monitoring, Reporting & QA:
Provide weekly status updates on SEO and paid ads performance
QA live changes (metadata, redirects, schema) and basic GA4 event checks
Collaboration & Communication:
Log all work in Trello/Jira
Attend a weekly 30-minute check-in call with the project manager
Who You Are:
2+ years of hands-on SEO & paid ads management (Google Ads, Meta Ads)
Strong grasp of site-audit tools (Screaming Frog, SEMrush, Google Keyword Planner)
Proficient in Google Ads Manager, Meta Business Suite, Google Search Console, GA4
Comfortable with WordPress and ad creative production basics
Clear, proactive communicator and self-managing
Logistics & Compensation:
Rate: $50/hour
Time Commitment: 12–15 hrs/week (front-loaded first month, tapering in month two)
Contract Length: 2-month engagement with potential extension
Location: Fully remote; must overlap with Mountain Time for weekly sync
