Geotechnical Design Intern - Purcellville, Virginia

GeoStructures is looking for students pursuing a degree in civil or geotechnical engineering who are interested in an internship for the summer of 2025! Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic self-starter who is ready to put what they are learning in school to real world practice. Come work with a team of great engineers!

During the summer, you will have an opportunity to learn about the following:

• Design and construction of:
  
  • Aggregate Piers
  • Rigid Inclusions
  • Ductile Iron Pipe Piles
  • Micro Piles
  • Support of Excavation (SOE) systems
  
  
  
• Design-Build project lifecycle including:
  • Project lead generation
  • Bid/proposal development
  • Development of design calculation packages and construction drawings
  • Project management through execution of construction
  
  
  
• Development of soft skills including industry networking, communication practices

Our Intern's Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks
• Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
• Prepare engineering related calculations, develop drawings and visual aids
• Perform geotechnical design and analyses under the supervision of a Professional Engineer for shallow and deep foundations, settlement, slope stability

Requirements:

• Completion of third year (junior year) in a Civil engineering program, geotechnical concentration preferred

or;

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering and currently enrolled in graduate program specializing in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Transportation to and from work each day required.
• Preference given to previous and applicable work experience.
