Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Policy for PBM and Drug Pricing, this policy principal will position Cigna as a thought leader on issues related to Medicare Part D, MA-PD, and other public programs. This individual will be a key contributor to Cigna’s Government Affairs team, driving pragmatic positioning on high-priority, high-visibility issues related to the PBM. The principal will ensure our business solutions and needs are accurately represented while tracking emerging trends. Additionally, this position will ensure our government program policy solutions promote affordability, sustainability, and access for clients and the system at large. The position requires candidates to: Analyze, define, and communicate critical PBM/drug pricing issues and trends for public programs within legislative and regulatory environments; identify or predict likely outcomes. Develop policy summaries for proposed rules and legislation; draft external talk points as necessary. Provide proactive strategic counsel to senior leadership, anticipating legislative and regulatory trends, and translating these into actionable business and policy strategies. Partner with the PBM regulated markets leadership to identify risks and opportunities from external policy developments. Additional responsibilities include delivering presentations, reviewing public affairs and internal draft materials, ensuring policy consistency across the enterprise, supporting public program clients, and developing Cigna’s positions on legislative and regulatory issues through stakeholder engagement and representation. Qualifications include a minimum of 7-10 years of policy experience in healthcare, a thorough understanding of Part D issues, and a successful record in policy-setting environments such as Capitol Hill, administration, agencies, or in-house roles. A bachelor’s degree is required, with related experience preferred. This is a hybrid role based in DC, with specific internet requirements for remote work, and an annual salary range of $172,100 - $286,900, potentially including bonuses and incentives.
