Lab Technician I
Location: Henderson, CO
Schedule: Currently 6 month Contract position
- Training: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (approximately 2 months)
- Shadowing: Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM (approximately 3-4 weeks)
- Final Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (2nd shift)
- Pay: $20.75/hour
- Shift differential: +$1 for all worked hours, additional +$1 for weekend hours
Job Summary: Under direct supervision, Lab Technician I performs routine tasks and simple analyses on hazardous waste samples following established procedures in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines. Specialized analysis is conducted using laboratory methods while maintaining compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
Education & Experience: - High school diploma or GED required
- No prior laboratory experience required; 1-2 years of lab or industry experience preferred
Certifications & Licenses: - 24-Hour HAZWOPER Training
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: - Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective time management and ability to juggle multiple deadlines
- Strong customer orientation
- Proficient in computational skills
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Perform inbound and process material testing using various methodologies, including fingerprint screens and cyanide analysis
- Ensure accurate documentation of all test results, QA/QC audits, and sample records
- Gather and verify paperwork for managerial approvals and compliance
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure federal regulation compliance
- Utilize specialized equipment such as gas chromatographs, calorimeters, and KF titrators
- Assist facility personnel with approval paperwork and waste disposal efficiency
- Communicate test results promptly to relevant departments
- Maintain troubleshooting proficiency and documentation in line with quality assurance protocols
- Stay up to date with required training and certifications
- Prepare standards and reagents
Non-Essential Duties: - Maintain lab cleanliness and sample management
- Label and dispose of lab waste per guidelines
- Manage chemical and supply inventory
- Prepare standard chemicals when applicable
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned
Physical & Work Environment Requirements: - Sitting: Frequently (4 hours/day)
- Standing & Walking: Continuously (6 hours/day)
- Fine Finger Movements & Eye-Hand Coordination: Continuously
- Climbing, Bending, & Reaching: Occasionally
- Handling Hazardous Material: Yes (laboratory activities, waste sampling, household hazardous waste)
- Must be able to lift 10-50 lbs.
