Job Summary

The Medical Transcriber is responsible for accurately transcribing physician audio notes into written medical documentation. This role is critical in ensuring accurate patient records in a busy Oncology Hematology Clinic setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, excellent communication skills, and a high level of attention to de tail.

Key Responsibilities

1. Transcribe audio recordings from physicians into typewritten format using a computer, keyboard, and audio control equipment.
2. Scribe for physicians during patient visits in a high-volume Oncology Hematology Clinic.
3. Review and edit transcriptions for clarity, accuracy, and consistency with medical terminology.
4. Identify and correct errors or inconsistencies in medical reports, consulting dictionaries and medical references as needed.
5. Distinguish between similar-sounding medical terms (homonyms) and ensure correct context and usage.
6. Communicate with physicians to clarify unclear audio or resolve discrepancies in dictated reports.
7. Input and retrieve data for inclusion in patient medical records and physician communications.
8. Prepare a variety of medical documentation including reports, correspondence, patient information, and administrative materials.
9. Submit finalized reports for physician review, signature, and inclusion in official medical records.

Required Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Ability to type at least 50 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy.
3. Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and drug references.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
5. Excellent work ethic and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Prior experience in a clinical or transcription-related role is a plus.
2. Familiarity with oncology or hematology medical vocabulary.

Certifications

1. Relevant certifications in medical transcription or healthcare documentation are advantageous.
