Requisition: 973 Job Title: Network Security Engineer Location: Must be local to the DMV area - Onsite 5x per week Clearance Level: Active DOD - Public Trust. Candidate must successfully obtain a Public Trust clearance. Onsite support is required in Washington, DC, 5x per week. Summary: The Mid Security Engineer supports a government agency in achieving strategic cybersecurity and security operations center goals. Agile Defense seeks a talented Security Engineer to support enterprise cyber programs, providing advanced cyber network defense operations and security engineering, including analytics and countermeasures to protect critical assets. Candidates should have diverse backgrounds in security engineering and systems administration, with a solid understanding of network and cloud security, O&M, and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR). Job Duties and Responsibilities: Support the Security Operations Center as a technical SME for all network security functions. Respond to and resolve ServiceNow tickets. Perform after-hours maintenance of security tools as needed, both remotely and onsite (a few times per month). Prepare presentations for the customer to pitch new tools or enhancements. Configure and maintain the security stack. Supervisory Duties: This is a non-supervisory position. Education, Background, and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. 7+ years in cybersecurity, with at least 4+ years in cyber security engineering. Required Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or CISSP CCNA, CCDA, CCNP Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience with at least three of the following technologies: CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Cisco Firepower, ExtraHop, Splunk, Zscaler. Team-focused with technical ability supporting the entire engineering lifecycle. Experience determining appropriate security hardware, software, and services for national-level cyber solutions. Ability to support investigations, analyze security problems, and implement solutions. Experience with security tools for cyber analysis. Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues within a Systems-of-Systems environment. Understanding of NIST 800-53 r4/r5 for IA/Compliance. Functional knowledge of scripting languages like Python and PowerShell. Preferred Skills: Experience with Cisco Routing & Switching, Firepower IPS/Firewall, Web Security Appliance. Familiarity with SIEM tools, data lakes, and security analytics development. Motivated to learn advanced cyber concepts and work within a formal engineering lifecycle. Strong attention to detail in managing complex changes. Monitoring emerging security technologies. Relevant security certifications: Security+, CISSP, SANS, Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft AZ-900. Working Conditions: Contractor site with minimal travel; general office environment; sedentary work with occasional standing/walking. Physical and Environmental Requirements: Light lifting, standing, walking, and repetitive motions required.
