We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction to K12 students inNew Mexico. This remote position offers the flexibility of working from home while making a meaningful impact on students' educational experiences.
Key ResponsibilitiesIndividualized Instruction: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students, focusing on areas such as Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive technologies.
Curriculum Adaptation: Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to ensure accessibility for students with visual impairments.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Conduct functional vision assessments and regularly monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to support academic and social-emotional development.
Assistive Technology Integration: Provide instruction and support in the use of assistive technologies to enhance learning experiences for visually impaired students.
Collaboration & munication: Work closely with parents, caregivers, and school staff to ensure consistent support and munication regarding student progress and needs.
Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in visual impairment education and remote teaching methodologies.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education for the Visually Impaired from an accredited institution.
Certification: Valid New Mexico teaching license with endorsement in Blind and Visually Impaired (K-12) .
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a virtual setting.
Skills:
Proficiency in Braille and other tactile learning tools.
Knowledge of assistive technologies and adaptive educational software.
Strong munication and collaboration skills.
Ability to adapt instructional materials to meet diverse student needs.
Familiarity with virtual teaching platforms and assistive technologies.
Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
Knowledge of current instructional methodologies for visually impaired students.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
