divh2Scale Clerk/h2pFerrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North Americas premier processors, buyers, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Scale Clerk at one of our Detroit, MI locations. The Scale Clerk is responsible for weighing all inbound and outbound vehicles, inspecting loose loads, directing them to proper unloading areas, and assisting in the details of purchases./ph3Summary of Responsibilities:/h3pEnsure adherence to safety standards including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), remove hazards as identified, and maintain cleanliness of the site./ppAccurately inspect all materials ensuring correct weights, materials description, and grade for all inbound and outbound loads./ppDetermine the grade of the material, enter it into the inventory system, and direct to proper location./ppOperate and maintain mobile equipment including but not limited to forklifts, skid steers./ppSet prices and purchasing materials based on market value (NF)./ppManage and control inventory levels (NF)./ppProvide day-to-day training and guidance to develop our team to its fullest potential./ppAnswer customer questions about materials, pricing, and procedures./ppMaintain records as required./ppResearch, compare, and evaluate local markets./ppManage, arrange, and schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers./ppAssist with processing as needed, periodically operate and maintain equipment./ppMaintain scale house and keep grounds organized./ppOperate scale computer, applying correct material and inventory codes./ppPrepare proper paperwork for shipments./ppCommunicate effectively with transportation, customers, management, and yard employees./ppInteracts with customers or drivers to direct or assist them./ppInsure quality of inbound and outbound materials./ph3Minimum Qualifications:/h3pHigh School Diploma/GED and must be at least 18 years of age./ppExperience in scrap industry preferred./ppComputer experience with Microsoft Office preferred./ppGood communication and interpersonal skills./ppBasic math and data entry skills./ppAbility to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once./ppAbility to maintain accurate records./ppAbility to follow oral and written communication./ppAbility to climb ladders or steps to reach objects./ppWork cooperatively with other employees and the public./ppMust be able to work in an environment where routinely exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate and changes in weather./ppPre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required./ppFerrous Processing and Trading is a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
