Senior Director, Real-World Evidence and Epidemiology, Pneumococcal Vaccines

This high-level position assumes a leadership and global role within the Vaccines Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Epidemiology group, focusing on pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs). The senior director will lead RWE and epidemiologic studies to generate evidence on disease burden, vaccine effectiveness, and vaccine impact, supporting the pneumococcal franchise. The evidence will inform vaccine recommendations, utilization of licensed PCVs, and development of next-generation PCVs.

The role involves managing complex long-term projects, collaborating with external experts, and working cross-functionally within Pfizers multidisciplinary teams, including Medical, Regulatory, Data Sciences, and more. Example studies include burden of disease, serotype distribution, and evaluating PCV20 effectiveness on disease outcomes, including Phase 4 post-approval studies. The position may also involve work on related pipeline vaccines within the Bacterial and Tick-Borne Diseases group.

Responsibilities

• Lead epidemiology studies, including primary data collection and secondary analyses of real-world data.
• Author and review study protocols, reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
• Contribute to study design, methodology, protocols, and analytic plans for key epidemiologic studies.
• Develop innovative approaches to global epidemiology questions related to pneumococcal disease and vaccines.
• Establish and maintain relationships with external partners for high-priority studies.
• Collaborate with statisticians and data analysts to interpret study data.
• Ensure collection of epidemiologic data for vaccine labeling.
• Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership to advance Pfizers RWE/Epi use for regulatory and vaccine development purposes.

Qualifications

• PhD in Epidemiology or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, or MD with 5+ years, or MPH/masters with 10+ years.
• Expertise in vaccinology and infectious disease epidemiology.
• Strong epidemiological and statistical skills for observational studies.
• Experience in vaccine-related research, clinical development, and immunization programs.
• Experience working within large cross-functional teams and with external partners.
• Proven leadership in designing and executing non-interventional studies.
• Experience analyzing large healthcare database data.
• Excellent scientific writing and communication skills, with peer-reviewed publications.
• Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.
• Ability to manage projects from start to finish and interpret complex data.

Work location is hybrid/on-site 3 days/week. Salary ranges from $219,800 to $366,400 in the U.S., with bonus and benefits. Relocation assistance may be available. Pfizer is an equal opportunity employer. This position requires permanent work authorization in the U.S.
