In a career as a Sleep Lab Assistant, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered and safely operating sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake stages, respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements and other clinical events of patient care. Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs. Schedule: Full-Time, Three 12 hour shifts 6:00 PM-6:00 AM, Locations: West Hospital. Major responsibilities include assessment and evaluation of diagnostic testing appropriateness and effectiveness based on patient’s age, cognitive and physical abilities and/or developmental needs, communication to the physician of patient data, initiating and monitoring overnight testing procedures in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine, maintaining professional attitude with patients and hospital personnel, assisting with quality assurance programs, following protocols and documenting according to BTNRH policies, participating in department meetings and continuing education, and adhering to safety, security, and infection control programs. Authorized to make entries in the medical record consistent with job duties and licensure. Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served. Required qualifications include current enrollment in a STAR-designated self-study education program for polysomnography or enrollment within one month of hire, and BLS certification required.
