• Schedule: Day Shift | 5x8-Hour (07:00 15:30)

  • Up to 1 2 PM shifts (3:00 PM starts) per week

  • On-call required: 1 weekday night per week + 24-hour on-call every 2nd or 3rd Saturday or Sunday

• Start Date: 08/04/2025

Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) for a 13-week contract in a busy and diverse operating room environment. This position requires strong orthopedic surgical experience, along with a comprehensive surgical background spanning general, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and endoscopic procedures. Candidates must be comfortable rotating shifts and participating in frequent on-call coverage.

NOTE:

• Local candidates are not accepted

• Pending licenses will not be considered

• RTO must be declared at submission

• 30-minute response time required for on-call shifts

• Facility may call off up to once per 2-week pay period

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the OR with necessary surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment

• Maintain a sterile environment and assist surgeons during procedures using aseptic techniques

• Support cases across a wide variety of specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and endoscopy

• Handle surgical instruments and assist with robotics as applicable

• Rotate across day, PM, and on-call shifts including 24-hour weekend coverage

• Ensure surgical counts are correct and safety protocols are followed

• Collaborate closely with RNs, anesthesiologists, and surgeons

• Ensure timely setup and turnover of OR rooms

Key Requirements:

• Must have at least 2 years of recent experience as an OR Tech

• Required experience with orthopedic procedures (total joints, spinal fusions, arthroscopies, etc.)

• Must be available for frequent on-call , including one night per week and every 2nd or 3rd weekend (24 hrs)

• Must respond within 30 minutes for on-call

• No local candidates accepted

• Must have BLS certification

• Must list all RTO at submission

• Travel experience not required first-time travelers welcome

Qualifications Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

• Certification preferred but not required if candidate meets experience criteria

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in OR surgical technology

• Must have strong orthopedic surgery background

• Experience with a wide range of surgical procedures across specialties

License:

• Active Surgical Technologist license in WA (if applicable by state law)

• Must be active at time of submission pending license not accepted

Skills: Core Surgical Skills:

• Ortho:

  • Total hip/knee replacement, spinal fusion, ACL reconstruction, laminectomy/discectomy

• General Surgery:

  • Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repairs, thyroidectomy, Whipple

• Gynecology:

  • Abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, D&C, laparoscopic procedures, vulvectomy

• Podiatry:

  • Ankle fusion, bunionectomy

• Urology:

  • Cystoscopy, prostatectomy, nephrectomy, TURP

• Endoscopy:

  • Bronchoscopy, EGD, colonoscopy, PEG

• Robotics:

  • Orthopedic robotic-assisted surgery

• Professional Knowledge:

  • Aseptic technique, case cart setup, phlebotomy, IV start skills

Equipment Familiarity:

• Fiber optic light sources

• Case carts

• Sapphire, Hospira, and PLUM IV pumps

• Robotic surgical systems

• Endoscopic instruments
