**Job Description: Emergency Department Nurse**
**Location:** Asheville, NC
**Shift:** 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
**About the Role:**
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department (ED) Nurse to join our team in a prestigious hospital environment known for its commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services. Our facility features a busy ED that receives over 100,000 patient visits annually and offers advanced care as a Level II trauma center and comprehensive stroke center.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced ED environment.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a strong teamwork mentality.
- Utilize advanced nursing skills and participate in various emergency procedures.
- Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and document care in the Cerner system.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and post-discharge instructions.
- Contribute to a positive patient experience by adhering to AIDET principles: Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You.
**Unit Specifics:**
- 101 beds with a typical patient ratio of 4:1 (up to 7:1 on behavioral holds).
- Support staff including Techs available for cardiac monitoring and internal processing.
- Requires flexibility to float to all sections within the ED as needed.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in an emergency department setting.
- Experience in a Level II trauma center and a high-volume ED preferred.
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS (to be obtained prior to hire).
- ENPC certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide real-time feedback and coaching to peers.
**Dress Code:**
- Required uniform: Navy scrubs.
