VIP Instructor Pilot (AW139)

BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE (SUMMARY)

A PAG VIP Instructor pilot reports directly to his/her line manager, Chief pilot or the PAG Commander. The VIP Instructor pilot conducts scheduled or immediate helicopter transport operations for VIP passengers. The VIP Instructor pilot possess the experience and competence level to provide safe worldwide helicopter transport operations; complies with and is knowledgeable of the host-nation regulations. Mission profiles include single/dual pilot operations ranging from NVG flight, ship deck landings, multi-aircraft formation flight (similar or dissimilar in type) in different environmental conditions. The VIP Instructor pilot performs his/her duties during day/night/instrument flight rules/overwater/mountainous and desert type terrain to improved or unimproved landing sites.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school graduate, BA or BS preferred.

• Transport Pilot Helicopter ATPL(H) with current Instrument Rating (FAA / EASA).

• Flight instructor license, military instructor pilot course or equivalent.

• (Certified Flight Instructor [CFI], Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI), Type Rating Instructor [TRI])

• Emirati pilots, certification as a Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI) or Type Rating Instructor [TRI]).

• Must have valid passport.

• Must be able to pass a background security check.

• Must have a current Class 1 flight physical and pass a UAE military flight physical.

• Must pass a hands-on flight evaluation.

EXPERIENCE

• For AW-139:

Minimum 4,500 total flight hours, of which at least 1,500 is in type (AW 139) but not less than 800, 1,000 flight hours as a RW PIC, 500 hours multi-pilot (MP) operations, 200 flight hours night, and 100 flight hours actual or simulated instrument. AW-139 type rating from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training facility or an Approved Training Organization (ATO). • For H-145:

D2/D3 type rating from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training facility or an Approved Training Organization (ATO). Minimum 4,500 total flight hours, of which at least 1,500 is rotary wing (RW), 1,000 flight hours as a RW PIC, 200 flight hours night, and 100 flight hours actual or simulated instrument. Other combinations of experience and education that meet these requirements may be substituted.

• Must possess knowledge of ICAO regulations.

• Previous NVG qualification, highly desired.

• No more than 2 years since last helicopter flight on type (AW-139/H-145).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• The minimum acceptable standard for English proficiency is level 6.

• Emirati, the minimum acceptable standard for English proficiency is level 5 (Level 6 preferred).

• Must be able to read, write and understand English and military aviation terms as applied to military aviation operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all duties and tasks as directed or assigned by his/her line manager, Chief pilot or the PAG Commander.

• Perform as a Pilot-In-Command and/or Instructor Pilot in PAG Aircraft, accomplishing scheduled and unscheduled flights as well as post maintenance flights, acceptance flights, and support missions as prescribed by the customer.

• Conduct advanced planning, aircraft launch and mission execution in accordance with (IAW) approved standing operating procedures.

• Duty cycle commences upon arrival at place of duty and ends 14 hours after the arrival at the place of duty; thereafter IAW approved SOP.

• Conduct mission analysis, risk management-mitigation and accepts or rejects mission changes while actively flying.

• Deploy to foreign countries to conduct missions as assigned and IAW host country regulations.

• Within or while outside of the UAE; conduct single / dual pilot operations, to improved or unimproved landing areas

• Provides formal / informal training and evaluation(s) as required by the training department.

• Brief crew members and non-crew members on safety, emergency procedures, and scope of mission. Pilot aircraft and command crew to accomplish assigned mission.

• Must be able to work flexible hours; as directed per his/her line manager, Chief Pilot or the PAG Commander.

• Represent the UAE and the PAG by positive actions, attitude, and appearance.

• Ensure that all aircraft procedures, flight operation practices, standards and records comply with the Private Aviation Group, Original Equipment Manufacturer and country specific regulations.

• Obtain briefing information on the purpose of the flight, weather, operation procedures and any special instructions. Prepare flight plans considering factors as altitude, terrain, weather, aircraft, crew capabilities, threats, operational and training requirements, and flight procedures.

• Ensue VIP aircraft are being operated to airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, technical manuals, airworthiness directives and good maintenance practices.

• Ensure the aircraft has a pre-flight, is properly loaded, equipped, and manned for the mission. Pre-flight aircraft and test systems for proper operation. Ensures that weight and balance is correct, fuel supply is adequate, and equipment is properly stowed.

• Must possess an ability to interact with various cultures.

COMMUNICATIONS

• Conducts courteous, respectful, clear and effective communications with the customer’s assigned point of contact, the Flight Crew, Air Traffic Control and the Chain-of-Command.

• Properly prioritizes changes to his/her assigned mission; whether scheduled in advance (prior to flight) or unscheduled (while flying).

• Effectively communicates the safety-risk mitigating measures put in place prior to and during the conduct of the assigned mission.

• Must be able to communicate well with others, instil a team-work mentality, and lead by example.
